ESL eSports arrives for Xbox One!

Last month, there was an estimated 10 million people watching eSports teams taking each other on in a game called Defense of the Ancients 2 (DOTA2). The host, the Electronic Sports League (ESL) hopes that they can attract a similar type of audience of console players with their Xbox One app.

On Tuesday, they launched the app which you can download on the Xbox One. So far, it appears that the app prioritizes matchmaking, allowing people to sign up for upcoming “cups,” or competitions, for Xbox One games like FIFA 15.

This is really good for Microsoft and for console players in general because now they don’t have to be restricted to just the PC platform for eSports. Hopefully Sony takes this into consideration and tries to do this to the PS4 also.
