Read what 343 had to say about the PC Version of Halo: Master Chief Collection.
“We’ve definitely heard the questions about PC. Right now we’re a couple months out from the Xbox version’s release, and that’s our main focus right now. That’s quite honestly where all our headspace is right now.”
“From a technical standpoint, you look at the architecture of the Xbox One and there are some similarities to the architecture of a modern PC. That certainly makes that sort of cross-platform development easier. But beyond that the ease goes away. Master Chief Collection is massive. We have to coordinate four games, 100-plus maps, a lot of new cinematics, and Halo 2 Anniversary.”
“We wanted to do a great job on console. The anchor of Halo: Master Chief Collection is the ten-year anniversary of Halo 2 on console. So our approach was to focus primarily on console as a result of that.”
“That’s one of the things I love about the PC community. You’ve got so many cool things going on [with fans]. And then you’ve got the breadth; PCs are everywhere all over the planet. Obviously as part of Microsoft PCs are part of our business. When you look at that market and community, there’s almost limitless possibilities in terms of what we can do.”
Halo: Master Chief Collection, sounds like it would be great on the PC right? It would help alot of PC gamers that don’t know what to do in the right direction and any of the people who never got the chance to play them when they came out. Now why is it only for the Xbox One?
Halo is Microsoft’s child, it’s been with them right from the start, but they’ve also got the Windows platform that they could sell it on and I don’t know about me but I’m pretty sure they’d get a good amount of sales from selling it on Steam, Origin, or the Windows Store if they wanted to. PC Players have been asking for more Halo since Halo 2 was released on the PC and Microsoft’s strategy on the PC is a bit weird because they release the 1st and 2nd of most flagship titles and move to console exclusive. (e.g. Gears Of War, Halo, etc.) Microsoft has pledged before for better PC support what’s stopping them?
Dan Ayoub said “We’ve definitely heard the questions about the PC,” Ayoub explained that while porting old games to new platforms and remastering them to different degrees it didn’t really seem like the most labor intensive thing because of the sheer scale of the project (4 Games) and one of them is getting a complete graphical overhaul would make it hard for them to make 2 versions at once.

While alot of PC players don’t want to hear this, the remaster is in many ways for the consoles, and not for the PC. Ayoub claimed that, given the amount of work the collection had put into it, 343 had to make a choice and Xbox One was their choice.
We might see it come out in the future, only time will tell.
