Quantum Break Time Shifting Review

Quantum Break is an exciting game and live action show which will leave you at the edge of your seat all the way through with the stellar line up, including Shawn Ashmore as Jack Joyce, Aidan Gillen as Paul Serene, Dominic Monaghan as Jack’s brother William, and Lance Reddick as Martin Hatch, the storytelling in Quantum Break is something different and enjoyable, with detailed characters and twists in the story that Remedy is known for. Your choices will affect the outcome of the game and the show,  expanding Quantum Break’s the universe with every choice you make. It’s a completely unique experience that you won’t find anywhere else.

Aesthetically the game looks fantastic and Remedy did an amazing job on building the world for the game, and with every cutscene and npc interaction you feel more immersed into the story of Quantum Break, it features collectible story items you can find throughout the game giving you more insight to the backstory for the characters and the environments you are in. Collecting these will answer questions you have about the game’s story and you’ll have a few of them rest assured. Quantum Break has fantastic voice acting, never sounding phoned in even for a moment. The cutscenes are very well made, and the quality of the environment and character models truly shines as the models are very detailed.

The game’s graphics are top notch, my only true negative I have would be that there is just a bit too much motion blur during some cutscenes but nothing that will bother you unless you look for it. Loading times are pretty quick while when playing off of your HDD, and the live action scenes buffer very quickly when streaming off through the internet. The controls I’ve got nothing to say they are quite easy to get used too, and it all feels very well put together.

Whilst playing the game you’ll be introduced to the powers that the main character that Jack has. The abilities aren’t dropped onto you forcing you to figure out how to use them, you are given them as you progress throughout the story and they are all introduced in a timely manner This makes it easy to get used to the powers, and you won’t have to worry about an information overload. All the powers feel very enjoyable and not tacked on.

Quantum Break does a fantastic job at introducing you to the world and all of it’s important details while still keeping you hooked. Everything you see during the first act of the game has it’s place and is not a filler object. Everything was placed for a reason and you can see that right off the bat. The acting throughout the game is done very well and you can see Jack and Will’s relationship grow throughout the game, the live action show only adds to how good Remedy is at telling a story and keeping you interested and invested in the story for the entire time.

With each new character comes another unexpected twist to the story, and things like that really bring you into the universe that Remedy has created and wants to show you. Your choices throughout the game will ultimately make a difference in how your experience is while playing the game. Once you meet your brother during the opening parts of the game it really feels like a bad reunion and you can see it in the faces of the characters showing their emotions. I can say the game hooks you and makes you keep playing it over and over. I’ve just gotta say these end Act final choices you have to choose from make me feel like it’s a Telltale game and I love it. Microsoft did a great thing making sure this game came out, it’ll do great and Microsoft and Remedy should be proud of it.

If you’d like to preorder the game you can at Amazon for a physical edition and for a Digital Edition you can get one from the Xbox Store.

I hope you enjoy this game as much as we did.
