RUMOR: Nintendo Switch to be using USB-C? 720p to 1080p when using dock? Dark Souls Trilogy coming to Switch?

As we are waiting patiently for Nintendo to reveal more about the Nintendo Switch on January 12th, new information about the system keeps leaking out from very unlikely sources. Today there was a few rumors the first of them being that the Nintendo Switch will house a USB-C charging port.

This comes from EB Games Australia, which briefly listed a bunch of Nintendo Switch accessories from the hardware maker @play. Though the listings were quickly taken down, Technobuffalo managed to get screengrabs of the listings, and the other sources we have confirm that the accessories included a “Nintendo Switch Charging Cable.

The listed production description is as the following “USB-A to USB-C Charging Cable compatible with the Nintendo Switch Console”. This leak is also coming on top of earlier reports from LetsPlayVideoGames, via multiple unnamed sources, that the current Nintendo Switch prototypes are using USB-C for their charging needs. Doing something like this is pretty big for Nintendo because they usually use proprietary charging ports like the ones on the 3DS.
In other rumors from LetsPlayVideoGames. The Switch docking port will be also providing extra performance to the handheld allowing it to go from 720P to 1080P. Connecting to the Switch by USB-C.
“When the system is connected to the dock by USB-C, the system’s components will run at a higher clock speed to facilitate 1080p resolutions on the TV. Both video and power will be transfered over USB-C when docked. Plugging the system into the dock will also activate a small additional fan to help with cooling when run at that higher clock speed. This fan is in the rear of the dock, and there is a gap in the back of the dock to allow the system’s inbuilt fans to vent when docked.”
Lastly the rumor that is quite surprising is that From Software is testing performance of Dark Souls I,II,III on the switch. According to a source of LetsPlayVideoGames From Software has been testing Dark Souls on the Switch internally and it’s at a level of performance currently that they are happy with. They haven’t committed to releasing it, but they have discussed the viability of re releasing the main 3 Sould titles on the Switch with the DLC bundled in. The Switch port has been underway for several months via a small team, with From Software waiting to see how much the Switch will be selling so they can judge how well a Dark Souls Trilogy will do. The plan would be for a re release of Dark Souls 3 if it’s greenlit to release the same day as the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions will get with all the DLC.
We will update you guys with any more news on the Switch as it comes.
