Marvel’s Avengers taking a step backwards with CO-OP

Crystal Dynamics has been taking time answering questions, around the launch and other aspects of Marvel’s Avengers, and letting everyone know how things will work in the full game.

The developer recently confirmed the general information of the day one patch that will need to be downloaded to play the game. We know how the missions are structured and some of the limitations at launch. However their latest blog post has detailed that the game does not allow you to jump in, and jump out of missions whenever you want at least at launch.

This was disappointing to say the least, as most if not any recent co-op loot based title has allowed drop in co-op from their launch, we’re not sure when they’ll patch in the ability to do so either as the blog post ends their statement with “at this time.”, which could be a month from launch or half way through the year.

This basically means you’ll have to get your team ready before launching into a mission, and hope no crashes, or disconnects bar you from rejoining your friends. It’s still very strange for this to not be available in a co-op game in 2020, but hopefully it gets patched in sooner or later.

It looks like no matter what your difficulty is, it’ll only effect you, as it is on a per player basis, and loot/rewards will be based off of your chosen difficulty. So you can be on the easiest while a friend is on the highest, and you will have no problem playing together.

Marvel’s Avengers is out September 4 on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Stadia.
