PS Plus Essential’s October games: giant voxels, bayou hunts, and last year’s F1

Sony posted the October Essential lineup on Wednesday. Three games. Claim window is October 6 through November 2. Official post is on the PlayStation Blog.

September’s batch — Chained Echoes, Sniper Elite: Resistance, Wobbly Life, and MLB The Show 26 — stays claimable through October 5. After that, it’s gone from the monthly list.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 (PS5, PS4)

The odd one out, and the only title that still works on PS4. Square Earth, voxel bugs, 100-plus playable characters, 600-plus weapons. Four-player online co-op or two-player local split-screen. It is loud and dumb on purpose. If you have ever wanted EDF without the grim military coat of paint, this is that version.

Hunt: Showdown 1896 (PS5)

Crytek’s extraction shooter in a rotten American frontier. You hunt monsters for a bounty, then other players hunt you. Solo, duos, or trios. Four maps. Sony is also tying a Hunt starter pack to Plus on October 6 as part of HorrorFest, so the game and the cosmetics land the same week.

F1 25 (PS5)

Codemasters’ 2025 Formula 1 game, not the brand-new season title. Career and My Team 2.0 are the offline hooks. Online, there is F1 World, where you and friends race as a squad against AI. EA sold a 2026-season expansion in June; that paid pack is separate from this Plus claim. You get the base F1 25 game.
